Brewing of beer is also done using malt extract. The extracts are available in liquid and dry form. While former one is used for the purist and latter one is used for practical. But both are produced by stimulating the germination of barley malt. The extract of malt is sweet, given to children and adults as a supplement.
Malt extract is prepared from the liquid, wort which is produced brewing process of barley. The wort is heated or vacuum procedure is used to extract water. The concentrated wort is called as malt extract.
Liquid malt is thick syrup which is used only to work with the liquid form. This one is sticky and not easy to work with. The malt has shorter shelf life. On contrary, due to absence any moisture content dried malt extract has longer shelf life. This one is to work but dried malt extract gets sticky when comes in contact with the water. The processing steps are complicated making the product cost high and expensive.
